2nd Grade Highlands Ranch Mansion Project
“This expedition was so cool because we actually got to go to a mansion! We studied about it by reading lots of stuff about it. We found out the history of it but to be able to read about it and then actually go there was really cool! I’m really proud of the booklet we created because now other kids will be able to learn all about the mansion too." J.P. 3rd grade
In 2nd grade's Spring learning expedition, "History Detectives", students learn about our community's historical past of homesteading, land development, and population growth. The Highlands Ranch Mansion is main link to the past in this area. Our student's discovered that there weren't any historical reference tools available to elementary age children, so they developed a tour guide for visitors. This expedition's celebration of learning took place at the mansion where our students operated as the local experts and guides to our community.
